Kerala is a very popular destination for honeymooners, specially Indian honeymooners. Kerala Honeymoon is a trip to impress, a trip to share the first moments, and a trip to know each other more. The scenic state of Kerala offers some ideal locations to spend a charming honeymoon, the state is beautiful with its natural assets, rivers and Waterfalls, the western Ghats, the Beaches and the backwaters. The below are a few suggestions for a lovely honeymoon in Kerala.
My Garden of Eden, Wayanad
Let me tell you about where did I go for my honeymoon. I went to a place called “My Garden of Eden” in Wayanad. I have been to this property some time back as part of a familiarisation trip, fell in love with the location and beauty of the place and the moment I had to plan a honeymoon for myself, “My Garden of Eden” was the first thing that came into my mind. The reason I opted for this place is, they have a hill top cottage, a stand alone cottage atop a hill with an extensively large bath room, an open shower, chairs outside the cottage along with a swing hung on trees, calm, silent, awesome view of the valley and they have got a swimming pool as well. Anything if they would lack is the food element, the food had limited options. Still I would say this was the best option I could have.
Vythiri Resort, Wayanad
What most people recommend for a Kerala Honeymoon is Vythiri Resort in Wayanad. A honeymoon resort full of honeymooners, I wanted to be away from the crowd, so I opted for “My Garden of Eden”. Vythiri resort has a stream flowing through the resort and is most beautiful during monsoons. They have a hanging bridge over this stream, the rooms are nice and they even have a honeymoon pool cottage. If you want to splurge out money for your honeymoon, it has to be Vythiri Resort. The food is of top quality the ambiance is very much close to nature. The resort is large and they have got some activities and treks planned around. The resort have some tree houses as well. They are popular among honeymooners and is a large resort with pretty nice reviews.
Rain Forest, Athirapally Waterfalls
This is one amazing place close to nature, ideal for a Kerala honeymoon. The property is right opposite to the Athirapally Water falls thirty Kilometers north of Cochin Airport. The location is the best thing here, from the restaurant you have a have an amazing view of the waterfalls through the Shola forests. They also have a tree house close to the waterfalls. This would also be an option to make the honeymoon more exotic. The property is old, but well maintained. Don’t go for the base category rooms, try the premier rooms with the waterfall view, you actually have a view of the waterfall from the bed. The monsoon season would be more cooler and chilling. They offer jeep treks and other water trek activities.
Spice Tree in Munnar
Munnar is the favourite and most popular Kerala honeymoon destination among Indian Honeymooners. Primarily because of the scenic beauty and the mist filled cool weather of the Western Ghats. Munnar has very few top end accommodation facilities, and Spice Tree is one among them. The property is located thirty Kilometers towards Thekkady, at a place called Chinnakanal. They have a pool villa that has wide views of the valley from the in room treated pool. The room is very elaborate and could be one of the best options for a honeymoon in Munnar. The property is built up in limited area and looks very much like a concrete structure. But the rooms are well done and have all facilities that you find in a luxury resort. They have an elaborate activity list here available at the front desk.
A houseboat stay in the Kerala Backwaters
Houseboats are something unique to Kerala and a houseboat cruise is something really romantic. Just a couple on board and the crew just for them. The private cruise will be through narrow canals where you could see a lot of the backwater lifestyle and culture, people, households, children playing around, women washing cloths and much more. The boat will take you to the vast backwaters where you enjoy some of the most cherishing moments. It would be nice to be on a luxury or a premium houseboat where you have better elements of luxury in the interior. There are around thousand five hundred houseboat in Kerala backwaters, a standardization is still not in place for the houseboats in Kerala. Always book through a reliable tour operator in Kerala who has good knowledge of the premium houseboats.
Hibiscus at Marari vIllas, Marari Beach
Marari Villas is about a couple of serviced beach villas and beach bungalows run by Olga and Rupert at Mararikulam in the district of Alleppey. Only Marari Villas would have villas so close to the beach in Kerala, like the picture above (it is the Bougainvillea). They have very limited rooms and normally run out of rooms very fast, so you need to book the rooms very much in advance. I would suggest for the Hibiscus villa, an old traditional Kerala house, three hundred meters away from the beach, it has got nice gardens and a private pool that would make the honeymoon lovely. Its silent and charming, they have cycles available at the beach villas.
Fragrant Nature, Kollam
Fragrant Nature resort is a backwater resort located in the district of Kollam, South Kerala. Almost all the rooms have the views of the backwaters. They have a wonderful private pool villa very much suited for a honeymoon couple. The cottage is traditionally styled and the pool overlooks the backwaters. The property is very much secluded and is away from the madding crowd.
